The Moose Hide Campaign is honoured to share a transformative milestone as it enters a symbolic Rite of Passage ceremony, marking a new phase in its journey to end violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum. This moment reflects years of meaningful collaboration, hard work, and mentorship.
The Moose Hide Campaign (MHC) is thrilled to announce that Raven Lacerte, Co-Founder of the Campaign, will formally step into the role of Executive Director for both the MHC Development Society and the MH Foundation on January 1st, 2025.
Since 2011, Raven has been a guiding force within the Moose Hide Campaign, learning and growing with the intention of one day stepping into this leadership role. This Rite of Passage is the result of a longstanding mentorship and succession plan and will add new energy and vision to the Campaign as it moves forward.
“This moment is both a celebration of what we’ve accomplished together and a look to the future,” said Raven Lacerte, newly appointed Executive Director. “I’m honoured to step into this role, continuing the work to inspire and mobilize communities in ending gender-based violence.”
The Campaign would like to extend our deepest appreciation to David Stevenson, who has served as CEO for the past six years. David’s exceptional dedication and leadership has been vital in spreading the medicine of the Moose Hide Campaign in a good way and helping to grow the Campaign throughout British Columbia and across the country. While this Rite of Passage marks the conclusion of David’s role as CEO, it also celebrates his commitment to mentorship and the shared successes achieved under his leadership. Mussi Cho David!
At the heart of this Milestone also lies a deep and profound gratitude to the Province of British Columbia. Their unwavering commitment to ending gender-based violence has been instrumental in empowering the Moose Hide Campaign to foster meaningful change across the Province and beyond. Together, we celebrate the impactful outcomes of our long-standing partnership – a powerful example of reconciliation in action.
Key milestones over the past six years include:
- 34,485 members of the BC Public Service actively participating in Moose Hide Campaign initiatives;
- 83,000 Moose Hide pins distributed to BC Public Service Employees.
- 7 consecutive years of official proclamations recognizing Moose Hide Campaign Day in British Columbia.
Looking Ahead
The Moose Hide Campaign remains dedicated to its mission of empowering individuals, organizations, and communities to take action and stand together against gender-based violence. Under Raven’s leadership, the Campaign will continue to honour its roots, uphold its core values, and advance reconciliation.
