Many organizations can see clear and compelling reasons to align with the Moose Hide Campaign movement. However, deciding how to engage in a meaningful and inclusive way will take more time and coordination, depending on the size and structure of your organization.
For those wondering where to start, we recommend getting involved on Campaign Day. It’s an opportunity to participate in a day of ceremony and connect with the movement.
Make your Campaign Day plans
On May 15th at 8:30 am PT, consider organizing a viewing party to watch the stream of the General Plenary session with two incredible keynote speakers, Elain Alec and Michael Kaufman.
Maybe your team prefers to get outside for a walk together, taking the opportunity to connect and reflect on the movement’s message.
After the Walk to End Violence in Victoria at 2 p.m., there will be an opportunity to participate in two virtual workshops led by facilitators on a variety of topics to help deepen your understanding of gender-based violence and equip you with tools and knowledge to help end this critical issue in our country.
Fasting is another virtual and meaningful way to participate. “Our hope is to one day have 1 million people fasting together on Campaign Day and participating in the workshops, skills-building and connection-building sessions throughout the day, as well,” said Raven Lacerte.
However you decide to participate, please remember to register your activities.
Continue your momentum year-round
After Campaign Day wraps, we hope that you will make a long-term commitment to making your community safer through their every day actions.
- Create opportunities for your teams to wear their pins and continue their learning journey. Use the Ending Violence Guide to foster deeper conversation in a mindful way.
- Help grow the movement by giving out pins within your organization and broader community. Inspire curiosity and help others understand the sensitivity of the issue as you speak to how this movement aligns with your organization’s values.
- Consider becoming a corporate sponsor. In the first-ever Moose Hide Campaign Sponsor Summit, BMO, Scotiabank and TELUS shared insights into their partnership approaches and benefits of their commitments. You can watch the full summit below.
“Don’t wait to be perfect. Reconciliation is about taking action. It’s small actions that add up to drive real generational change in the lives of people affected by gender-based violence,” said Marissa Nobauer, Director of Reconciliation, Community Engagement and External Relations.
“Wear your pin, talk about what it means, bring people into the conversation. And find ways to support the Moose Hide Campaign, both financially and in-kind.”
Whether you’re just beginning your journey, or ready to deepen it, we’d love to help you explore what your organization’s path could look like. Every step you take helps create ripples of healing, safety and transformation.
