On the first day of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, join us for a special conversation with Fallon Farinacci, a Red River Métis speaker, writer, survivor, and advocate for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.
Fallon is a child survivor of the MMIWG2S+ crisis whose own family was profoundly impacted by violence. In 2017, she shared her story with the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and later served on its National Family Advisory Circle. Today, she uses her voice and experiences to raise awareness, support healing, and advocate for change across Turtle Island.
Together, we’ll talk about the impacts of gender-based violence, the importance of survivor voices, and what it means to move from awareness towards meaningful action in our own lives and communities.
We ask for demographic information, such as gender, Indigenous identity, and age, to better understand who we are reaching. Responses are combined and reported in aggregate to support evaluation and funder reporting; individuals are never identified.
A note for educators and families:
This webinar will explore gender-based violence and MMIWG2S+ and may include personal experiences of violence, loss, and their impacts on families and communities. While these topics are not the sole focus of the conversation and will not be explored in graphic detail, discretion is advised for younger audiences. Educators and caregivers are encouraged to consider the readiness of their students or children before participating.
