This webinar will explore Truth and Reconciliation in Canada and may include discussion of colonialism, residential schools, and the violence experienced by Indigenous children and communities. While these topics are not the sole focus of the conversation and will not be explored in graphic detail, discretion is advised for younger audiences. Educators and caregivers are encouraged to consider the readiness of their students or children before participating.
About Waubgeshig
Waubgeshig Rice grew up in Wasauksing First Nation on Georgian Bay and now resides in Sudbury, Ontario with his wife and three sons. He’s written five works of fiction, most notably the novel Moon of the Crusted Snow and its sequel Moon of the Turning Leaves, published in 2018 and 2023 respectively. He’s a former broadcast journalist, current novelist, and ongoing Anishinaabemowin learner. He holds a journalism degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, an honorary Doctorate of Letters from Nipissing University, a diploma in Anishnaabemowin and Program Development from Georgian College, and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His forthcoming novel, Early Bird, will be published by Random House Canada in April 2027.
