Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day of ceremony where all Canadians are called to join together to take a stand against violence towards women, children and all those along the gender continuum and to take practical steps for our collective journey of reconciliation. Keynote Speaker

We are honoured to welcome Dr. Niigaanwewidam Sinclair as our keynote speaker, livestreamed from the Opening Plenary.

Dr. Sinclair is Anishinaabe from Peguis First Nation and a proud Treaty One member. He is an award-winning writer, editor, and activist, named one of Canada’s Most Influential People. 

Through his work, Niigan brings bold insight and deep care to the stories that shape this country, drawing on Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, and a deep commitment to truth-telling. He speaks from the heart about fatherhood, healing, and the responsibility we carry for one another, offering a powerful reminder of the role storytelling plays in helping us understand the world and our place within it. 

His work challenges the ongoing impacts of colonialism while lifting up the strength of Indigenous communities – inviting all of us to reflect, to unlearn, and to walk forward together in a better way. 

Bob Goulais

Master of Ceremonies

We are honoured to welcome Bob Goulais as the Master of Ceremonies for Moose Hide Campaign Day on May 14.

An Anishinaabe from Nipissing First Nation, Bob is a respected traditional teacher, speaker, and cultural facilitator known for helping people better understand Indigenous knowledge, language, and ways of being while creating meaningful spaces for dialogue and reconciliation across the country.

Virtual Workshops

Each Campaign Day is an opportunity for learning and sharing through our virtual workshops. Facilitators on a variety of topics will help deepen your understanding of gender-based violence, and empower you with the tools and knowledge to help end this critical issue in our country.

Events and walks will be hosted by communities, schools and groups across Canada! 

FAST to End Violence

As is common in many Indigenous cultures, fasting is a symbol of commitment, and a way to deepen your intention. We encourage everybody to participate in the fast from sunrise to sunset on Moose Hide Campaign Day.

Sunrise CeremonY

The Sunrise Ceremony from the East Coast of Turtle Island starts the day with intention. You can watch the ceremony on YouTube when the sun rises in your location.

Fast-Breaking CeremonY

There will be a livestream of the fast-breaking ceremony where witnesses from across Canada share their experiences from the day.

Our learning journey offers you a practical guide to end violence in Canada that is supported by 90 minutes of video content led by Indigenous Wisdom Carriers from across Turtle Island and the Moose Hide Campaign.
