At the heart of every Moose Hide Campaign pin is a story of healing, purpose, and community. That story begins in Winnipeg, at Mother Earth Recycling (MER)—an Indigenous-led social enterprise where each pin is handcrafted with intention and care.
Mother Earth Recycling is more than a workplace. It is a space of empowerment, cultural restoration, and economic reconciliation. Founded by three Indigenous organizations, MER creates meaningful employment for Indigenous people while also offering vital environmental services like mattress and electronics recycling. In recent years, their work has expanded to include the creation of moose hide pins—a sacred symbol in the movement to end gender-based violence.
The moose hide used for the Moose Hide Campaign is gathered in a good way, from moose that have been ethically harvested by hunters or recovered from roadkill. In many cases, these hides would otherwise go unused, and through the Moose Hide Campaign, they are transformed into something meaningful.
Rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, this process honours the animal and recognizes the moose hide as medicine. Each pin carries that teaching forward, reminding us of our responsibility to care for one another and to help end violence in our communities.
For those who are not comfortable wearing hide, vegan options are also available so that everyone can take part in this commitment in a way that aligns with their values.
Each pin produced at MER is made by hands that carry deep wisdom and strength. These are hands supported by living wages, cultural safety, and the dignity of meaningful work. In crafting these pins, the team brings forward medicine—not only in the physical creation of a symbolic item, but in the healing that comes from being part of something greater.

This is what your generosity makes possible.
When you donate to the Moose Hide Campaign or offer a gift of reciprocity for pins for your school, workplace, or community, your contributions go directly toward supporting the people behind the pins. You help fund training, supplies, and fair wages. More than that, you help sustain a model of community care where healing and economic empowerment go hand in hand.
Each pin that is shared carries more than symbolism—it carries the intention and energy of those who created it. It carries the medicine of dignity, resilience, and hope.
Your support ensures that this medicine continues to flow—into hearts, homes, and communities across the country.
Your donations honour the hands that make the medicine.
They sustain this movement.
They deepen our collective commitment to ending violence and building safer, more just communities for all.
